Telangana IT and Panchayati Raj Minister, K. Taraka Ramarao has celebrated his 42nd birthday on 24th July in a subdued manner as he was running a fever for the last couple of days. He is greeted by his followers from all over the world. Social media is agog with messages pouring into his twitter account. He thanked every one of them and wished that he could have met them personally and thanked them for the love and affection they were showering on him.
As a special request, KTR asked his fans and party cadre the money they may spend on posters and birthday cakes could be donated to the chief minister’s fund. But his request went unheeded by his followers. The walls of the Hyderabad and rest of the state turned pink with posters wishing him a happy birthday.
There were banners erected in the districts. One of the followers even made a song and dance sequence in a la Bollywood style and aired it on a TV channel. The newspaper ads themselves could have cost lakhs of rupees. The mad rush to express their loyalty knew no bounds for the fans. Why this kind of costly expression of their affection when they were categorically asked not to do so. Well, the coming elections may have something to do with it. All the prospective candidates want to catch his eye and if possible consequently an MLA seat.
